How does the Fetch integrate with Xero?
The Fetch HQ Excel Add-in allows you to pull your Xero financial data directly into your Excel workpapers — quickly, securely, and without storing your sensitive information outside your own environment.
How it Works
OAuth Connection to Xero
When you first connect your Xero account, Fetch HQ redirects you to Xero’s secure login page. You sign in directly with Xero to grant Fetch HQ permission to access your financial data.Authorization Code Exchange
After successful login, Xero sends an authorization code back to Fetch HQ. This code is securely exchanged for short-lived access tokens.Token Request by the Excel Add-in
The Excel Add-in requests the stored Xero tokens from Fetch HQ. These tokens allow the add-in to make API calls to Xero on your behalf — without requiring you to log in every time.Retrieving Financial Data
Using the tokens, the Excel Add-in securely calls the Xero API to retrieve the relevant financial information you’ve requested.Populating Excel Workpapers
The Add-in writes the retrieved financial data directly into your Excel workpapers, ready for your review, analysis, or reporting.
Security & Privacy
No financial information is stored by the Excel Add-in or Fetch HQ Portal.
All financial data is transmitted securely and resides only in your Excel workpapers, which remain in your control.
Access tokens are securely stored and refreshed as needed, in compliance with Xero’s OAuth 2.0 standards.
